This beautiful tangle of blooming, fruiting and budding parasitic plant was found on the beach dune at Thakailchi (Rocky Point). In parts it looked like it was holding stretches of the dune together. It has been estimated that one of the total length of these twining branches of a single plant can stretch out more than half a mile. The dodder taps in on its host's nutrient supply with a modified root structure called a hausorium.
